Access to Healthcare Finance.
Majority of Kenyans are still forced into Out-of-Pocket health financing. This severely limits care and without adequate financial assistance and support vulnerable Kenyans are pushed into poverty from medical emergency and in some cases fatality.
The numbers:
-
32% healthcare cost is Out-of-Pocket patient payments
-
12.7% (6M) sick Kenyans forego seeking medical care
-
64%+ of rural households can't raise Kshs 2,500 for emergency
What we do
We identify high risk patients across the country and provides them access to finance & care when they most need them.
In collaboration with doctors and health professionals, we have created a trusted, accountable and reliable network of friends working together to identify high risk patients and stand with them at their lowest and lonely point of need.
How we do it
We deliver impact through units we call FLAGs (Facilitated Learning & Action Groups). Each FLAG has community health worker(s) , doctor(s) and patients all connected together through a WhatsApp based Chatbot that is also accessible via USSD and SMS.
It is through this Chatbot that donors & philanthropists provide real-time financing when it is needed i.e. After a Community Health Promoter identifies a high risk patient within the FLAG and this patient is approved by the doctor, it is immediately accessible to donors to contribute towards the immediate need which could be an urgent need of medication (Out-of-Pocket) or Urgent transportation to referral hospital.
Our Strategy
A donor or philanthropist from any part of the world can visit the WhatsApp chatbot and support in one of three ways:
